All About Psychic Abilities

What do you think when you hear the term "psychic"? Many people think of creepy characters that can read the future and that are generally in horror/thriller movies. That is not true. Psychics are every day people just like you and your family; they are just given certain gifts that they use to aid people like you. There are hundreds of abilities that have been attributed to psychics starting with Biofield energy healing and ending with Telepathy. Although there are an abundance of abilities, there are three with the utmost amount of popularity in the general psychic powers list and they are: precognition, medium ship, and psychometry.

Precognition

This part of parapsychology is commonly known as future sight. Precognition is a type of outside perception that allows the psychic to access information about a future event. Generally this would mean that the information could not be accessed by other natural means that could be carried out by a non-psychic person. Premonitions come along with precognition and they are visions or thoughts about future events that are brought to the psychic via emotional means.

Medium ship

Generally regular psychics aren't known for their medium ship but rather "Mediums" are. Mediums are another sub-genre of psychics that only work with those who are dead. Medium ship is defined as a form of communication with spirits and it is practiced within the following religions: Spiritualism, Spiritism, Espiritismo, Candomble, Louisiana Voodoo, and Umbanda. Mediums claim to be able to contact the spirits of the dead, angels, demons, or other existential beings. Their role is to communicate with the spirits and then re-communicate the information to loved ones or friends. Medium ship can be seen in various horror/thriller movies, especially modernized ones.

Psychometry

This particular trait that is attributed to psychics is quite possibly one of the most popular and well known traits. Psychometry is the ability to touch a particular object and determine its history and its purpose. For example, if a psychic finds a coin they will be able to hold that coin and tell you who it was last held by and why it is where it is. Those who practice psychometry say that the objects have an energy field that allows certain people to understand such information. The use of psychometry is most commonly found within a fair or a circus because psychics tend to use it as a type of psychic readings. A lot of the time they will ask for an object from an audience member and they will determine who really owns the item and whether they are still alive or dead. The foundation of this psychic trait is still debated to this day. People are unaware as to whether the psychics are just abnormally good at reading people, if they can access the powers of their subconscious mind, if they're using creative visualization, or whether psychometry really exists.

There are thousands of traits that are automatically attributed to psychics but little do people know that there are actually specialists that deal with the sub genres of psychic abilities. Even though there are a lot of characteristics associated with psychics, there are still aspects of the profession that are most commonly sought out by people all over the world. Psychometry (the reading of objects) is commonly used as a parlor trick, Medium ship (the ability to speak with the dead) can be seen in movies, and Precognition (the ability to predict the future) can all be seen all over the world for various different reasons. If you are looking for a way to get in contact with a dead loved one or to even know where you are going to be in 10 years, seek out a psychic, they can help you more than you know.

Cosmology: Can Science Prove God?

When we look at Cosmology as a subject and especially if you are not a scientist you get the feeling that you search for God in the massive expansive of stars and galaxies.

The question is if science and in particular astronomy or cosmology can prove God exists. Right or wrong I would rather believe and answer coming from an astronomer than one coming from a pastor.

Cosmology

The most important thing to remember is that all the cultures such as the Egyptians, Indians and Chinese create an idea of the universe. Mostly based on myth in the beginning they definitely came closer to the truth thanks to scientific help.

Finite universe

One thing they had in common was the idea that the Universe was big and that somewhere out there was a God or many Gods. The fear of the wrath of this God or Gods made them construct models around their interpretation of how this God would have done it. This led to the idea that we and especially the church had to create a Universe to fit the idea of God and not the way it is. This would come much later

The Universe

As out knowledge of the universe expanded we reached the dilemma that some things we believed in for so long did not make sense anymore. and we did not have to look for problems since the problems start when we open the Bible.

Genesis and Creation

According to Genesis, the Earth was created in 7 days and we believed this was as we know things. While this is obviously possible, we realized this was not the case unless we had a wrong interpretation.

The Fingerprint of God

According to writer Hugh Ross, who happens to be an Astronomer and a Pastor one can prove the existence of God using science. The detail is in his book, but one example is that he believes the writers used the word vast and countless for a reason because this to him means billions. Then he points out that stars are at least 4 light years apart and using a billion stars the universe would have to be 20 000 years old. He takes this to 200 million years later. This is no where near the number of 14 billion years we have calculated but it is still much more than 7 times 24.

To prove God using science might work for a Christian but it would probably also work for an atheist trying to prove God do not exist. While it is very interesting, it is also very dangerous as you can set yourself up for failure and I doubt if you can ever prove the existence of God using science. Hugh Ross as astronomer can bring some interesting discussions to the table but he will probably find himself in a corner if trying to defend his ideas against an atheist scientist. Needless to say the later will also struggle to prove his ideas. A belief in God is a faith issue not a scientific issue.
